(Although the UK has been having its own drama about AI regulation recently.) There’s still a chance that the whole concept will fail and come to naught.
If an oversight group is created, it would be a sharp contrast from the hands-on approach presented in the White House’s previously unveiled AI action plan. The plan appeared poised to give AI companies most of the concessions they wanted, though it left plenty of potential for creating new problems.
Regulation for the technology industry, which certainly gets a lot of lawsuits, seems to make sense. Whether this administration is able to make good decisions about that regulation is a different question.
