As the Nancy Guthrie investigation approaches its fifth month with no significant updates or potential suspects, a retired law enforcement officer has suggested that the alleged kidnappers may have had motives other than money.

Former policeman Charles Brewer, who has been following Nancy’s case closely on his YouTube channel, presented a new theory in his recent video titled “Nancy Guthrie Case: We May Be Looking at the Wrong Person.” In the 21-minute video, Brewer expressed his suspicions about money being the main motivation for the crime.

Nancy, 84-year-old mother Today’S Savannah GuthrieUsed to be Missing since 1 February When police believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona. investigators have released doorbell camera footage DNA from a masked suspect was sent for testing to the FBI laboratory at Quantico, but no suspects have been named.

While many suspected that the alleged kidnapping was financially motivated due to Savannah’s TV star status, Brewer offered an alternative view. “If this was indeed a celebrity-targeted kidnapping directly linked to Savannah Guthrie, why was there no meaningful ransom communication?” he asked, according to Men’s Journal.

He further said, “Why leave over a million dollars untouched? Why create ransom-style messages that supposedly mean nothing? Why no persistent conversations or proof of life, why no sophisticated extortion tactics?”

“Because if someone kidnaps for money, money usually becomes the priority,” Brewer said. “But the behavior here seems disorganized, disconnected, even emotionally driven, or possibly connected to something far more personal than the public realizes.”

At the beginning of the case, TMZ and other outlets were sent an alleged ransom note offering Nancy’s return in exchange for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. According to TMZ, the value of the Bitcoins demanded was in the “millions” and the wallet address given in the letter was legitimate.

Other alleged ransom notes and letters were sent later in the investigation, although their authenticity has been questioned. It included a letter in which the sender reportedly apologized, claiming that he had not realized how serious Nancy’s heart condition was and that she had “gone to be with the Lord.”

Brewer said he was not pointing the finger at any specific individuals, including Nancy’s family, but said investigators should consider a possible emotional connection to Nancy or the Guthrie family.

“Listen, if the public, including myself, was comfortable enough to discuss whether this crime was connected to Savannah Guthrie’s fame, her wealth and public visibility, it is equally fair to ask whether this case might somehow be connected to someone else inside Nancy’s immediate world,” he said.

He added, “Not necessarily direct family, but maybe someone connected to them such as a friend, a colleague, maybe a business relationship, or what about a debt? There is a dangerous person roaming somewhere close to this family, which no one fully recognized at the time because even after more than 100 days, something feels missing. Something still feels untouched.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos had previously denied any involvement of the Guthrie family in Nancy’s disappearance. “The Guthrie family, including all siblings and spouses, have been cleared as possible suspects,” Nanos said at a press conference in February. “The family has been nothing but supportive and compassionate and are the victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, but cruel.”
