The Blaze “No AI Summer” Internship at Text Blaze

Role

We are excited to open applications for our “No AI Summer” internship.

We invite dedicated late-college or early career candidates to apply for this role. You would be perfect for this role if you:

  • Excited to tackle complex problems
  • Enjoy connecting with users and solving their problems
  • love to build and create
  • are high performing and motivated

Also, you are not allowed to use AI. at all. all summer.

We want to train you to become an excellent full-stack engineer, not an LLM. You’ll spend the summer learning and tackling difficult challenges. It’ll be a lot of work, but you’ll have the opportunity to really develop yourself.

tech stack

  • Mainly JavaScript based. Some pythons.
  • React is our primary web front end.
  • GCP is our cloud provider

Hmmm… why “not AI”?

Over the last two years we have seen an over-reliance on AI tools as an industry, limiting the growth and development of new junior engineers. Once you move beyond simple tasks, this over-reliance can lead to poor quality work and wasted time for everyone involved.

We want the rockstars on our team to help us build amazing products – (ironic em-dash) To do this we are banning AI in this internship.

So… you guys must really hate AI?

no way. AI is a very useful tool. You can get double-digit productivity improvements by using it. We use it extensively. Part of our product suite is AI. Don’t apply if you hate AI.

We want to work hard with you to help you become a great engineer who thinks critically and can do amazing work.

If you’re interested in joining, get in touch. We’re a small team and you have the potential to make a big impact. This application role is for junior developers, but we are also recruiting for senior roles.
