One person is dead and nine others are hospitalized after a shooting Friday in Midland, Texas, according to city officials.
Police said the possible suspect was in a standoff with officers Friday afternoon.
Law enforcement officers responded to a road described as an industrial area of the city, which is located about 300 miles (500 km) west of Forth Worth and Dallas, after receiving reports of shots fired just after 8 a.m. local time, according to local media reports.
Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed the shooting, the Associated Press reports. The people are being treated at Midland Memorial Hospital, where the emergency department is reportedly on lockdown as a safety precaution.
