For the past several years, Motorola’s smartphone headliners were Razer Flip Phones, but 2026 is different. This time, Moto’s first tablet-style foldable, the Razer Fold, takes a bit of a beating on flip phones, but the hefty $2,000 foldable phone, which isn’t made by Samsung, holds the smallest niche in the smartphone market. The Razer Flip Phone is far more practical both financially and logistically. But are these phones really worth buying instead of flat phones?
Smartphones are no longer something you need to convince people to buy. Unless you’re cutting technology out of your daily life, smartphones are just a necessary convenience. The way some companies market their phones – making relatively boring phones seem like a lifestyle choice – doesn’t really take this into account. However, Motorola knows what a Razr is.

These phones are first and foremost about vibes. They are fun and colorful; It features a desk clock display, mini apps for external displays, and a unique Camcorder camera mode. Foldables are universally gadgety and interesting to look at, but Razers take it to the extreme with unique textures and Pantone-certified colors. Even before you get to the specs or hardware, this gives Razers a selling point. And they need it because the speed and feed are nothing special.

The 2026 Razer doesn’t change much in the design department compared to last year’s versions, but that’s okay. They still look great. It has wood panels, soft touch plastics, vegan leather and synthetic fabrics – all things you won’t find on the latest devices from Samsung, Google or Apple. These are, undoubtedly, the most beautiful phones you can buy right now.

However, even years after the foldable era, these phones are still not an easy choice for smartphone buyers, and some people may not even consider buying one despite the stylish design. When buying a new phone, many people immediately put it in an Otterbox or similar armored case and add a screen protector. Then, a year or two later, when they have to remove the case for some reason, they are surprised by the color of their phone. If that’s you, then the 2026 Motorola Razr isn’t the phone you’re looking for—just move on.
