To answer your question “on older or lower-spec Macs”, the difference is noticeable, I haven’t tested myself, but on an M1 with 16GB RAM and nothing else running, latency should be less than 3-5s for simple commands, but for complex commands like generating some health reports, it may take a while. Yes, latency has been a concern, but I was previously exploring the possibility of distributed computing like how torrents work, offloading computation, but couldn’t make much progress there 🙂
