iRacing is ready for its Vision Pro debut. Immersive racing simulator is now available for Apple’s augmented reality headsets, the iRacing Connect app has arrived in the App Store. This is a pretty quick turnaround for a motorsport game, considering that the Vision Pro port was just announced in March.
But it may not be possible for every racing fan to take advantage of it immediately, because the specific requirements are, apparently, very strong. Assuming you already have an Apple Vision Pro headset at home, it needs to be running VisionOS 26.4 or above. You’ll also need a Wi-Fi 6+ router “capable of greater than 1000Mbps” to handle the connectivity. Finally, you’ll need a PC running at least a reputable NVIDIA 4070Ti+ or 5070Ti+ graphics card. You may face an uphill struggle to find it at a reasonable price as we suffer RAMaggedon.
If you have all the kit available, this seems like a pretty amazing way to experience the game. Vision Pro can sync up with your rig to do cool tricks like projecting your hands on the steering wheel and aligning the physical wheel with the wheel shown in the game. This is the kind of application we’ve been waiting to see for the Vision Pro, which has remained in the liminal space between an expensive toy and a beta version of potentially very cool technology since it was introduced. The latest version is certainly more powerful thanks to the M5 chip, but to really make the leap it will need to offer many more integrations like this with iRacing.
