The warning was lifted around 4 p.m.
“Damage to mobile homes, roofs and vehicles is possible,” the National Weather Service in Portland said. “Hide now! Go to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outside, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the nearest adequate shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.”

“The reason NWS Portland issued the warning was because of spotter reports,” said Storm Tracker 2 digital meteorologist Bobby Corser. “We detected the rotation on radar, but ground truth confirmed it.”
NWS Portland said storm spotters said they saw several funnel clouds.
This alert comes due to the possibility of tornadoes and hail in western Oregon and southwest Washington.
A golfer was struck by lightning in Clackamas County shortly before the funnel cloud was observed.

“We’ll continue to see heavy rain and storms throughout the rest of the afternoon,” Courser said.
