Apple’s next iOS update may include something phone photographers have been waiting for: a lot more control over the camera app. according to bloombergAccording to Mark Gurman, the Camera app will be “fully customizable” in iOS 27 and users will be able to “choose their own set of controls – called widgets – that run on top of the interface.”
Gurman notes that the Camera app will keep the current set of default widgets, but starting with iOS 27, you’ll be able to “switch to the ‘Advanced’ series of options or choose your own items.” From there, you’ll reportedly be able to select from a new “Add Widget” tray, with widgets divided into three categories: Basic, Manual, and Settings. The camera app will also have a separate set of widgets for each capture mode. According to Gurman, the Camera app is also getting a new “Siri” mode to utilize Apple’s visual intelligence features.
iOS 27 will also reportedly include some design changes to other apps, most notably Siri, which Gurman notes will be part of the dynamic island in iOS 27. Apple’s AI assistant may also get its own app and integration with more third-party AI models. Additionally, the Image Playground app and Safari start page are said to be getting a redesign with the Weather app adding a new “Terms” section.
