Celestial Lights And If Destruction Be Our Lot

Do you need something new for your reading list? This week, we recommend Cecil Pin divine light and the new Image Comics series, If destruction is our lot.

divine light

Another nostalgic tale about love, loss and the consequences of human ambition with space in the background? Oops, I might have a type. cecil pin divine light is a short and contemplative novel about Oliver Innes or Ollie, a man who has always been fascinated by the stars and one day is chosen to lead a 10-year mission to Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. It moves through time, following Ollie’s memories throughout his life and weaving together logs from the mission.

Although space exploration is a part of it, if you are looking for excitement and thrill then this is not the book for you. divine light As described in the blurb, “A portrait of a complex man and a breathtaking story of memory, personal choices, and the relationships that define us.”

If destruction is our lot

The first issue of this series came out at the beginning of the month, and oh, does it really feel like the start of something, In fact Great. The main character is, absurdly, an Abraham Lincoln robot whose purpose appears to be repeating quotes said by America’s 16th president. He is one of countless robots still functioning decades after the extinction of humans. And, unlike most of the droids around him, he has come to grips with what the meaning of his life is, now that his original, human-determined purpose has become moot.

When things go awry one day during a bus trip – the vehicle is Abe’s autonomous driving friend, the bus – his world suddenly begins to expand, for better or for worse. I really liked the art style and tone, which is a little quirky but also a little serious. Very promising premiere issue. If destruction is our lot The writers are by Mark Eliza and Matthew Rosenberg and the artist is Andy MacDonald.
