Xbox prices spike another $100 or more

Microsoft is raising the prices of Xbox consoles again. Starting August 1, 512GB models will be $100 more expensive, while 1TB models will be $150 more expensive. This means the Xbox Series S will start at $499.99, the Xbox Series Microsoft also says it will “eliminate” its 2TB Xbox Series

“Last October, we raised the price of XBOX consoles in the US by $20-$70,” Microsoft said in a blog post. “We were hopeful that another price increase would not be necessary, and we have spent the last several months working on alternatives with suppliers. Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5 times and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027. The entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with a crisis of existing components, but the effects on consoles are particularly hard. Unlike phones, computers, speakers and other consumer devices, consoles are not typically sold at a profit. are sold for less than the cost of making them.”
