Xbox Elite Controller 3 Leaked By Brazilian Regulator

Is Mercury in retrograde in Brazil? Because the sources out there are giving Xbox a very hard time today. It appears that Brazilian regulator Anatel accidentally leaked photos of the Xbox Elite Controller 3, which were later disseminated by a local tech site technoblog and raised in return The Verge.

According to the specifications revealed, this controller boasts of some notable new features. Below are two scroll wheels that can be controlled by your thumbs. A new pairing button appears on the front to switch the device between local and cloud modes. The D-pad has also been redesigned, and it looks like the gamepad is finally switching to a removable, rechargeable battery.

If this story sounds familiar, it is. Technoblog also published leaked images of a different Xbox peripheral earlier today. That story featured a pint-sized gamepad that was believed to be an unreleased Xbox cloud gaming controller.

It’s been a while since Xbox released a refresh for the Elite controller. The second generation of hardware debuted in 2019, and it became customizable in the design lab in 2022. And since at least one national regulator is currently looking at the device, it looks like the product is close to reaching store shelves. Xbox’s big summer showcase is just a few weeks away, but after today’s leak fest, Microsoft may be inclined to make an official announcement sooner rather than later.
