World Cup stars seen wearing mystery Beats headphones

Keeping a close eye on the 2026 FIFA World Cup players means you’ll get to see some excellent football, but lately, it’s also meant paying attention to the latest audio releases before everyone else.

As AppleInsider reports, three players have been spotted wearing a mysterious pair of over-ear Beats headphones. The headphones look different from everything Beats has previously released, including new colors, ultra-thick ear cushions, and a thinner external speaker section.

As reported by MacRumors, the new headphones didn’t come completely out of left field, as an FCC filing from March revealed that Apple had an unreleased pair of Bluetooth over-ear headphones in the works.

Who has been spotted with the new Beats headphones?

So far, we have seen three World Cup players wearing headphones. The first tease came from Spanish player Lamin Yamal, who was spotted getting off the plane in Tennessee on June 5 with not one, but two pairs of Beats headphones — one that was completely light pink, and one that was completely cream.

She later posted a light pink pair of headphones on June 11, with their cans once again hanging around the handle of her bag. This time, the photo was buried deep in the Instagram carousel.

The next to post headphones was American player Antoine Robinson, who posted a photo on June 14 in which he was wearing the two-tone cans with a white exterior and dark blue ear cups. Zooming in on the photo also reveals what appears to be a metallic sheen on the adjustable portion of the headband.

Finally, South Korean player Kang-in Lee also included two photos of himself wearing headphones around his neck in a June 14 Instagram post. This time, the exterior of the headphones was the same white as Robinson’s pair, but it had neon yellow-green ear cushions. Once again, zooming in on the photo reveals the headband’s metal adjustable arm.

Everything we know so far about headphones

It’s unclear as of now whether these headphones are an updated design or a limited edition version of an existing Beats product, or new headphones altogether. What we do know is that the brand’s only pair of over-ear headphones, the Beats Studio Pro, were released in 2023, so an update isn’t out of the question.

That said, it’s possible that Beats may expand its lineup, possibly with a more premium pair of cans. This is a step Sony has just taken with its Collexion headphones. Plus, with the Studio Pros being $349.99, Beats has room to grow — noise-canceling flagships from Sony, Bose, and Apple all fall in the $450 and up range.

As for the design of these headphones, there is some speculation as to whether the two-tone colorway seen on the Lee and Robinson hints at some kind of customizability for the headphones (which we’ve seen before). The headphones also feature USB-C charging and at least one on-ear tactile button. The possible metal section of the headband could suggest that these headphones are not foldable, which would be a deviation from the design of the Beats Studio Pro.

Beats likes to cater to a more athletic crowd (hence the placement of these headphones), so it’s also possible we’ll see some built-in health features like the heart rate monitoring included in last year’s Beats Powerbeats Pro 2.

We’ve reached out to a Beats representative for comment and will update this article when we hear more.
