But the overall difference between parents and non-parents in the postpartum period is not as big as you might think. On average, the German study, which included nearly 40,000 people in total, found that parents who had at least one child under the age of six reported sleeping about seven hours per night. Non-parenting women get only 10 minutes more sleep per night and men 14 minutes more per night.
