But he is best known as the host of the podcast welcome to night valeA long-running fiction show that blends terrifying Lovecraftian horror with absurdist comedy. As Cecil Palmer, the voice of Night Vale Community Radio, Baldwin keeps the titular townspeople up to date on all the happenings with the faceless old lady secretly living in your house and gives tips on how to best maintain their Bloodstone Circle.
She also co-hosts Random Number Generator Horror Podcast Number 9 With Night Vale co-creator Jeffrey Cranor, who most recently directed the drama as sylvia and raises awareness for LGBTQ+ issues and HIV. In short – he’s a busy guy. So we’re excited that he found some time to tell us about his tech pets.
What’s one thing you wish you could change about your phone?
Alas, it’s impossible to manually text and drive at the same time. We are collectively worse at this than we think.
What is your happy place online?
Adding books to my favorites list on Amazon so I remember the titles/authors, and then taking that list to my local new and/or used bookstore and buying them there.
What tech trend do you wish would take off?
Please, I’m begging you, let me watch the credits of a movie or television show in peace. I have just completed a film, you don’t need to cast me in a completely new film. Let me digest for just a second.
What creation are you most proud of?
This would have to be a podcast welcome to night valeCorrect? It was this acting role that changed the direction of my life.
What do you do when you feel stuck?
I would literally tell myself “1, 2, 3, 4, 5…go away.” It’s like liberating, spoken out loud when I don’t know how to proceed with a project or I’m stuck in a social media scroll-frenzy that’s bringing no joy. Put it down. go away Focus on something else for a while.
What’s the last piece of physical media you purchased?
Bought some albums from my local record store: Marianne Faithfull à la television 1965-1967george ben jor george benand dr john Gris-gris.
What will be the tagline of your biopic?
A display of authenticity…really.
