In Truth Social-ease, one could say that Anthropic’s Cloud Mythos Preview model is “the ‘hottest’ AI model” – Trump’s patented weird scare quotes are right around “hottest.” Anthropic has said that Mythos is so advanced that it could “reshape cybersecurity.” Britain is struggling to respond to the apparent vulnerabilities it has exposed. European cyber agencies have been thwarted in their efforts to get their hands on it and see what new vulnerabilities could be found in it.
But in Anthropic’s home country, things are a little more complicated. According to Politico, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met at the White House on Friday with Chief of Staff Susie Wills, National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant. According to Politico, the White House said the following in its statement about the meeting:
“We discussed opportunities for collaboration as well as shared approaches and protocols to address the challenges associated with scaling this technology. The conversation also explored the balance between driving innovation and ensuring security. We look forward to continuing this conversation and hosting similar discussions with other leading AI companies.”

Trump walked into a runway press scrum and answered few questions from reporters, mostly about the Iran war. Before turning and walking away, a reporter (it’s not clear which one) asked, “Did Anthropic have a meeting at the White House, sir?”
Trump’s response: “Who?”
The reporter clarified, “Anthropic?”
The President then gave one of his famous wing-flap shrugs and said, “I have no idea.”
To refresh your memory, the Trump administration is still in the middle of a strange and unprecedented power struggle with Anthropic – arguably the technology leader in artificial intelligence, even if it’s not as valuable a company as OpenAI.
In February, the US Department of Defense/War came into dispute with Anthropic over the authorized use of Anthropic’s models. A Pentagon official once claimed that Amodei was “a liar and a god-soul.” Secretary of Defense/War, Pete Hegseth, branded Anthropic with a “Supply Chain Risk” designation, which reportedly means that companies that do business with the Pentagon cannot do business with Anthropic – which could harm Anthropic’s entire business model, and has never been applied to a US company before.
While litigation over the designation is pending, Anthropic succeeded in getting the designation suspended by the courts for a short time, but it was briefly reinstated earlier this month.
But our President likes winners, and if there is such a thing as an AI power ranking, Amodei is on top of it right now, thanks to Anthropic’s ability to convince everyone that the world’s scariest technology is chained up in his figurative garage. Trump’s friend Jensen Huang of Nvidia is definitely on the silver side at the moment, though a recent clip of himself insisting he’s not a loser didn’t exactly help him look like a loser:

And OpenAI’s Sam Altman is contending with rumors that he will be fired.
Therefore Trump is in a difficult situation. His administration’s official position is essentially that Anthropic should be kept out of almost all American industry, but his vaguely expressed assumptions about the future of American industry appear to revolve around AI and other automation. Meanwhile, around the world it appears everyone is wetting their pants about being able to unleash the unspeakably evil Anthropic, which must be an attractive prospect when you’re the kind of person who likes to brag about being able to destroy an entire civilization.
With all this going on, Trump is trying to end his war in Iran – which even friendly publications say has not gone well – and at the same time, he also has to end the hostilities with some people in San Francisco?
I can see why he doesn’t “know” what to say.
