Here’s another reason not to waste your hard-earned money on the Trump Mobile T1 smartphone. The company has just admitted that it has exposed customers’ personal data to the open internet, according to a report by techcrunch. This includes phone number, home address, email address, and more.
A spokesperson for Trump Mobile said the leak did not include financial information, which is a good thing. However, the company made this admission just as real customers started searching for personal information online, so maybe it’s time to change those bank passwords.
It’s also worth noting that Trump Mobile has acknowledged the leak, but has not directly informed customers. The company is still weighing whether its customers, each of whom have spent at least $500, deserve a simple notification email.
Spokesman Chris Walker blamed the revelations on a third-party platform provider that supports “some Trump mobile operations.” The name of the provider was not disclosed, so who knows if it is even real or not. After all, it hasn’t always been the most trustworthy company.
This leads us to the actual phone. They were supposed to arrive in August of 2025, first delayed to October, and then delayed again. The gadgets may or may not reach customers this week.
It was also believed that the phones would be made in the United States, but this turned out to be another ploy. Nowadays, marketing copy states that the handsets were “designed with American values in mind.”
To support those tried-and-true American values, the golden smartphone features an American flag on the back. There’s just one problem. This particular American flag has only 11 stripes, whereas the original flag has 13 stripes. I guess “American values” don’t allow for additional oversight of a design document.
The original marketing copy also appears to suggest that this will be a new phone, one that is fundamentally designed and manufactured. It also seems like this is a misdirection or a fabrication. Multiple reports have indicated that the Trump T1 is actually either a reworked HTC U-24 Pro, which is made in Taiwan, or the Revolut 7 Pro 5G, which is manufactured by Wingtech in China. You can buy the Revvl 7 Pro for around $125.
In other words, the T1 is probably a years-old mid-range Android phone that’s been doused in cheap gold paint and emblazoned with an inaccurately drawn American flag. Did we mention it costs at least $500? It comes pre-loaded with Truth Social, which definitely compensates for any price discrepancy.
It’s an obvious gift, but perhaps not a highly profitable one. Truth Social once claimed to have approximately 600,000 preorders. However, the above leak shows that only 30,000 people actually converted preorders into actual orders.
