Filling out the main card is a lightweight bout between Thiago Moises and Gage Young.
Even though both men have exchanged wins and losses recently, this is an undeniable step up for Young.
Young, who made my prospects to watch around 2024 list, is a fighter I like and like a lot. However, after watching him more at a higher level, I’m worried this could be a classic case of being pushed into the UFC too soon.
Moises is a fighter that I think has traditionally been overrated and I’ve tried to fade him far more than I’ve ever supported him, but these are fights he’s traditionally wanted to win.
Young is at the age where I expect to see improvement fight-by-fight, I’m not sure how much confidence I can have in the American outside of the (albeit real) possibility of Moises exposing his questionable chin. And if this ultimately turns out to be the distance striking fight that I’m predicting, I think Moises’ leg kicks and counters will be able to take control of things, as I see this matchup looking a lot like his fight with Alex Hernandez.
Moises is the pick to pick up a competitive but clear decision victory on the scorecards.
