The Young Star of ‘Widow’s Bay’ Hopes Evan Faces More Horror in Season 2

If you haven’t seen it Widow’s Bay The finale is yet to come, be careful! Mayor Tom (Matthew Rhys) learns a game-changing detail about his teenage son Evan (Kingston Rumi Southwick), which is going to make the show’s second season especially dangerous for their family. You know, beyond the usual series of island sea wizards, murder clowns, masked killers, apocalyptic storms and the like.

“We hope you enjoyed your time!” Viewers learn that Ivan is the youngest surviving descendant of Richard Warren, who founded the island’s first settlement. Ruth (Kay Callan), the elderly woman whom Tom thought was the end of the Warren lineage, secretly had a daughter – Tom’s late wife, who died a few years after Evan’s birth.

This means that as long as Ivan is alive, the island will remain cursed. Part of that curse is that if you’re born on an island, you can never leave. The flip side is that the island is plagued by demonic attacks. And one more thing is that whenever the island feels hungry it demands human sacrifice.

Needless to say, Tom will do everything he can to keep Evan safe which he was obsessed with even before he learned of Evan’s relationship with Richard Warren. She may need to step up in season two if someone else on the island discovers the truth. But you have to suspect that the island itself will pose no threat to Ivan; After all, he needs to be together.

Still, Southwick has high hopes that we’ll see her character grapple with more fear in season two.

“I love the scary part of it, and I don’t think Evan has to do so many scary scenes or have so many things happen to him,” he told Deadline. “So, I’m really showcasing that there are different scary situations in season two and putting Evan in some very crazy and very scary situations […] I really want to do more horror movies, and I’m excited to see what happens. [creator Katie Dippold and director Hiro Murai] have in mind.”

Southwick expressed a similar sentiment while speaking with Esquire. “There’s going to be a lot more Evan in season two. It’s fun because I really want to do more scary things on the show — like having me experience horror. I’m just excited. I know I’m in good hands. I keep calling. [Dippold] Like, ‘Tell me what’s going to happen!’ I think they are going to start a writer’s room soon.
