Unlike older Sonos products, the Roam 2 now has Bluetooth in addition to Wi-Fi. When you’re at home, the speaker connects to your network and functions just like any other Sonos speaker in your setup. Take it on the go, and you can easily connect your phone and keep the tunes going. The Sonos app isn’t always the best at finding new speakers, but in this case it was up and running instantly and connected to the Roam 2, which is good news for those who get easily frustrated. It has a fun sound profile that’s great for picnics or hanging out in the backyard, with solid bass and a balanced mid and upper range. Some other Bluetooth speakers may be louder, but the Roam 2 makes up for it by joining in with other speakers around your home.
While the first-generation Roam suffered from some long-term battery health issues, Sonos has assured us that the Roam 2 has more than fixed the problem, and at least in the short time our reviewer Parker Hall spent with it, this was no longer an issue. The exterior is also slightly susceptible to stains and scratches, keep this in mind if you want your device to look clean. However, it is waterproof and quite sturdy, so just know that any marks you see on the housing are just at surface level.
I saw discounts on both the black and white, but they’re both marked as “limited time deals” so you might want to move fast if you’re interested.
