
This first trailer for season two – which promises more neo-noir flourishes and more sculling around Los Angeles – certainly doesn’t dwell on that particular aspect of the series, at least until a little wink at the end. Colin Farrell’s character is John Sugar No Actually from here. He really has come from somewhere very far away.
However, Apple TV isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. Here’s the official synopsis: “Season two marks the return of iconic Los Angeles private detective and film connoisseur John Sugar, played by Colin Farrell, who stayed on Earth in hopes of finding his sister as he takes on a new missing persons case – the search for the older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer. As the investigation expands into a sinister, city-wide conspiracy, Sugar must prepare himself to answer the question – just how far will he go. To do what is right?”
Sugar’The new season brings a new cast including Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle and Shea Whigham. The first episode will arrive on June 19, followed by a weekly rollout of the eight-episode season on Apple TV.
