Dale Fry speaks to Mark Drury after Middlesbrough’s goalless first leg of the play-off.
Middlesbrough captain Dale Fry is full of confidence heading into tonight’s Championship play-off semi-final return leg with Southampton.
The tie remains goalless after the first match at the Riverside, with Boro unable to take advantage of a stellar first half and conceded 17 shots on goal to the Saints, while the visitors had zero.
The match was still a tight affair after half-time but Fry is confident Kim Helberg’s side can deliver the expected performance at St Mary’s tonight having lost only one of their last 10 matches.
“I’m proud of the boys,” the defender told BBC Radio Tease. “I thought we were fantastic.
“Going there, we’re full of confidence. Our away form this season has been really good and I’m confident we can go there and get a result.”
There was a special atmosphere at the Riverside because of the espionage allegations made in Southampton.
The Boro coach was greeted by thousands of fans as he arrived at the ground, which was a special moment for local boy Fry.
“I was stunned,” he said. “(It) made me proud to be from Teesside.
“I was sobbing on the bus. If someone had started talking to me, I think I would have started crying.”
