Shion arrives when season 3 begins on June 16.
After teasing the latest addition to a series of colorful characters in its team shooter earlier this week, Blizzard has released a gameplay trailer for another new damage hero. Shion will join overwatch When its next season, the third since the Talon reboot, begins on June 16. This character won’t do anything to change the perception that Blizz is pushing to create hot heroes or that it’s starting to suffer from similar-face syndrome with its female lineup. But at the very least, Shion is one of the team’s most dramatic creations in quite some time, looking very stylish in an all-white suit with beautiful red horns and cybernetic red eyes.
Appearance-wise she may bring to mind the Moody Reaper character, but Shion’s kit is actually more reminiscent of Tracer. She has dual-use semi-automatic pistols as her base weapon, but she can concentrate fire into a more powerful burst to eliminate an opponent with low health. Mobility also seems to be important to this hero, as he has fast movement and can ride a real motorcycle in the game. The bike feels particularly satisfying, as Shion seems to have the ability to jump and propel the vehicle into an opponent. Her ultimate ability turns Shion into a damaging vortex that can move towards enemies.
Considering the big Overwatch reboot is meant to emphasize a larger narrative tying the characters together, it seems like the next lore drops will highlight the story surrounding the Hashimoto clan where Shion is a boss. So expect more background on supporting heroes Kiriko and Mizuki as part of the larger drama about Vendetta’s efforts to take over the world as Talon is the new villain-in-charge.
