NYT Connections decided not to use words. Players are not OK.

Connections pulled out a classic game design trick this week: showing the player a challenge they haven’t seen before, but were unknowingly preparing for it the whole time.

The popular New York Times puzzle game, in which players usually Tasked with grouping a bunch of random words together into hidden categories, Wednesday, May 6 was thrown a heck of a curveball. If you haven’t checked it out yet, today’s puzzle is a little strange because it doesn’t involve any words at all.

Instead, it is a set of symbols for worldly goods.

The puzzle actually makes some sense if you do what I did and just look at the answers, but for everyday Connections players, this will obviously be a tougher challenge than usual. Of course, people on the Internet had some real thoughts about this. To be precise, mostly very negative thoughts.
