NBA Cup 2025: Standings, schedule and latest clinching scenarios as contenders face elimination

With two days left in the NBA Cup group stage, six of the eight spots in the knockout round (including two wild-card spots) are still up for grabs. The Raptors and Lakers are the only teams to have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Who will join them? Who will be removed? Let’s break it down.

As a refresher, all 30 teams were placed in groups of five based on the previous season’s regular-season record and a random drawing, creating three divisions in each conference. If two or more teams are tied in a group, the following tiebreakers (in sequential order) will come into play:

  • Head-to-head record in group play

  • Point differential in group play (overtime scoring will not count towards tiebreakers)

  • Total points scored in group play (overtime scoring will not count towards tiebreakers)

  • Records from the 2024–25 NBA regular season

  • Random drawing (in the unlikely scenario that two or more teams are still tied after the last tiebreaker)
