Jon Favreau Regrets Trying to Keep Tony Stark Alive During ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Tony Stark’s self-sacrifice during the big battle against Thanos Avengers: Endgame This meant that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had to say goodbye to one of its most popular heroes. “I talked to the Russos; I said, ‘I don’t know if people will like it or not… I don’t know, it’s going to really impact people because they were kids who grew up with that character,'” Favreau recalled. However, they soon realize that they don’t have to worry.

“But I have to tell you, it was handled very well by them. And Gwyneth [Paltrow] And Robert acted brilliantly, and I think it added a poignancy to it. I think he did a great job. I was wrong.”

He also said that watching the emotional scenes choked him up – and that he’s excited for Downey’s return to the MCU, albeit this time as the villain Doctor Doom, in December. Avengers: Doomsday.
