‘Home Improvement’ Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested for Sixth Time in 5 Years

Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for the sixth time in five years.

The actor’s fiancee, Johnny Faye Cartwright, was also arrested and booked into the same jail. Jail records show she faces five charges, including one count of driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempted first-degree assault. It is unclear whether Bryan or Cartwright have legal representation to comment on their own behalf.

Bryan’s most recent arrest was in January. At the time, the actor faced second-degree domestic violence charges from Myrtle Beach police in South Carolina.

In a police report obtained by People, the arresting officer said that a woman involved in the incident “stated that Brian had attacked her” and that the two “live together and have children in common.”

The woman told the officer that Bryan “choked her and punched her multiple times in the face,” and that this included “others” who “were inside the home during the incident.”

The woman he allegedly strangled to death was Cartwright, with whom he had three children, daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia.

Earlier in 2024, Brian was arrested twice on DUI charges – first in February and second in October.

A year earlier, Bryan was charged with felony fourth-degree murder, third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment.

She pleaded guilty to fourth-degree aggravated assault under the domestic violence charge, Lane County Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Parosa told PEOPLE at the time. Bryan was sentenced to seven days in jail.

Parosa said Bryan’s second count was dismissed as a “negotiated settlement.” Instead of serving a 19 to 20 month prison sentence, he received “36 months of supervised probation, 7 days in jail, standard domestic violence conditions, downward disposition departure with no contact with the victim without probation officer approval,” the district attorney reported.

Local news outlet KEZI reported that Bryan’s probation sentence will not expire until October 2026.

In 2020, Bryan was arrested for allegedly strangling his then-girlfriend in an Oregon home. He pleaded guilty to two domestic violence misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.

Cartwright showed her support for Bryan in 2023, saying she would “always want what’s best for the father of my children.”
