GTA 6 Physical Copies Won’t Include a Disc, Will Just Be a Code in a Box

Rockstar will be selling physical copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 – although you’ll only get a box containing a digital download code.

This morning, Rockstar announced that it will finally begin pre-orders for GTA 6 at midnight tonight, with a variety of options available. As well as digital pre-orders, fans will also be able to purchase GTA 6 in a box – although there will be no disc included inside.

On the other hand, physical copies will be available from November 12, ahead of the game’s actual launch on November 19. This is also the earlier date when GTA 6 pre-loading will become available, allowing anyone with a physical copy or digital pre-order to download the game.

While disc-less physical copies have become more common in recent years, it is notable that such a large, mass-market game – possibly the biggest game of this console generation, most of The market game is completely destroying physical media. But in a world where Nintendo is also ditching physical media for many of its own exclusives (like Pokemon Pokopia), this probably isn’t too surprising.

After several delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally arriving this November. However, this time, the game’s release date is now fully confirmed, pre-orders have begun, a special edition has been detailed, and prices are all locked in.

Notably, GTA 6 Ultimate Edition will include exclusive vehicles, weapons, and costumes, as well as additional locations and activities that seemingly will be absent from the base version of the game – a smart move by Rockstar to offer two entry price points, but one that motivated committed fans to spend $100.

And that’s all before any new versions of GTA Online come out. According to Rockstar, GTA 6 “offers a single-player experience launching on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.”

Copies of the game purchased before November 20 will at least include an additional Vintage Vice City pack with more cosmetics and cars, though customers of the physical edition should note that this is only guaranteed “while supplies last.” You get a free month of GTA+ on digital pre-order.

So, digital or physical? Who are you picking for GTA 6?
