It can extract answers to questions from your apps’ data.
Google thinks it’s cool to speak out loud and hence, is bringing more conversation features to the likes of Gmail, Docs, and Live. For example, Gmail Live will let you ask a natural language question in your inbox, saving you the hassle of searching for keywords yourself. For example, let’s say you’re headed to the airport and need to know your gate number, now you can simply ask the system “What’s the gate number for my flight?” Hoping the system isn’t hallucinating. In many ways, it feels similar to Ask Gemini, but each one is connected to the respective specific app.
Similarly, Docs Live enables you to talk through your initial ideas for a document that the system will organize for you. With your permission, it will take that structure and go into your Gmail and Drive to add any relevant details from your notes and communications. If you’re feeling adventurous enough, you can even ask the system to pull any relevant information from the Internet. This is also the case in Keep, where you can direct reminders to impose some kind of structure on the system. Google says that whatever you spew from your mind, Keep will now be able to understand, curate, and create reminders and prompts for what’s relevant.
As for when you’ll be able to take advantage of these features, Google says they’ll be rolling them out to AI Pro and Ultra customers this summer. Around the same time, it will be available as a preview for Google Workspace business customers.
