The Spark Agentic AI Assistant is available exclusively to Google AI Ultra customers in the US.
Google has started rolling out its new agent AI assistant, Gemini Spark, on its Gemini app for macOS. When the company launched Spark at its I/O developer conference in May, it explained that the Assistant turns the Gemini into an “active partner” that can actually do tasks for you.
For example, on a Mac computer, you can ask it to sort a large number of PDFs into specific folders in your downloads. You’ll also be able to enable it to perform tasks on your Workspace apps using files in your computer, such as asking it to create a spreadsheet with invoices saved on your laptop. In the future, Google will also update Spark so that it can run tasks on your computer that you ask it to do from your phone. For example, if you’re away and need a specific file, you can ask Spark to find it for your laptop and then email it to you.
However, for all those tasks you will have to trust Gemini with your information. If you’re concerned about privacy and security, Google says the Assistant will only be able to access the files you give it permission to access. If you don’t mind giving Spark access to more of your data, you can now link it to Google Tasks and Keep. Integrations with third-party apps like Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rental will also be available in the coming weeks.
Gemini Spark for macOS is still in beta testing and is only available to US users 18 and older who pay $100 per month for Google AI Ultra.
