After months of teasers, Ferrari is unveiling the first full view of its Luce electric vehicle. The Lucknow is notable not only for being Ferrari’s first EV, but also for being designed in collaboration with Jony Ive and Marc Newson’s collective LoveFrom. It will also be Ferrari’s second four-door car and its first five-seat car.
We already knew that Ive and Newson were working on the interior of Luce, which was shown earlier this year. Now Ferrari says Lovefrom was allowed to “define the design direction of the project from the very beginning”, inside and out.
Tim Stevens is reporting Engadget He offers some first-hand impressions of the car, which he describes as feeling more like an SUV than a traditional sports car. He was not able to try out the fully working interior controls or get a test drive, but he noted that with four motors and 1,035 horsepower, it should be set up for success. He praised the car’s sound, which apparently picks up and amplifies vibrations from the rear motors rather than being completely synthesized like many EVs. And he revealed that although there is no price set for it in the US, in Italy it will be priced starting at €550,000, which would make it the most expensive Ferrari ever.
