It’s too early to tell, especially since both films showed exciting new teasers at this week’s CinemaCon. But a movie will have a distinct advantage over a popcorn-filled weekend. Dune: Part Three The IMAX market has closed, meaning it’ll get its chance to show off its sandy action on the most coveted giant screen.
Not one to be outdone, however, Disney would like its fans to know Doomsday It’ll still look and sound as great as possible thanks to its newly announced “Infinity Vision.”
According to a press release, Infinity Vision is no mere gimmick; It is “a new certification for premium large format (PLF) theaters.” If a theater is certified, it means audiences can expect the “biggest, brightest and most intense cinematic experiences” based on “rigorous technical standards” for screen size, image clarity and sound.
Although this sounds encouraging, it also seems like there is some FOMO going on here. Infinity Vision-certified theaters are really just regular theaters that can claim to feature tip-top equipment. It’s not the same as watching a movie in the giant, ear-splitting IMAX format.
However, you have to guess that Disney wanted to make sure there was plenty of crossover with Marvel fans—who, let’s face it, dune Fans didn’t feel left behind. Perhaps the studio hopes this will encourage those who may have been waiting to see Doomsday Gotta go on the opening weekend anyway. After all, there are spoilers to consider!
The press release said Infinity Vision will include “more than 75 domestic and 300 global exhibitor PLFs.” You can experience it for the first time during the September re-release Avengers: EndgameAnd then, of course, in December when Doomsday Comes.
