This will begin to change with its release next week The Mandalorian and Grogu. The film was produced and co-written by Dave Filoni, one of the new presidents of Lucasfilm (along with Lynne Brennan), and in a new interview, he talked about how he’s thinking about the future of the franchise he now controls.
“I’m just looking at stories and possibilities and planning what I want to do,” Filoni told Collider. “I believe in having an overarching idea and then saying, ‘Okay, there’s a lot of this, and then we can have it.’ There are some things that are already trending, obviously, I want to continue that. John [Favreau] And I’ve had a great partnership over the years in telling stories. So, I look at the stories that I’m planning and crafting, and I also look at other creative talents who come up with great stories for us, and I just try to find a way to make them all work.
As things stand, after The Mandalorian and Grogu, next star wars The media that will be released is Filoni’s own show, Ashoka. The second season is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in early 2027. After this it will be released in May 2027. Star Wars: Starfighter, A completely standalone adventure directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling.
after this? Well, let’s look at Filoni’s quote. “There are some things that are already in motion that, obviously, I want to continue,” he says. This is possibly referring to a planned trilogy conceived by Simon Kinberg, which, rumor has it, will become episode x, the eleventhAnd twelfth. Those films may also include the work that director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Ray was doing on the film.
Other movies that were announced, such as James Mangold and Taika Waititi’s movies, are still technically on the table. And while they may fit into Filoni’s quote, we think their discussion is more telling about the story he and Favreau are telling. This certainly suggests that Ahsoka’s adventures alongside The Mandalorian and Grogu will continue.
Although, to be fair, this is a pretty classic Filoni quote. He says nothing but means everything. Our guess is that we won’t officially hear more until August of this year, D23 Expo, or April of 2027. star wars Celebration.
what do you think next star wars the movie will happen later Star? Do you trust Filoni’s vision?
