Sakura Johnson is currently ranked 8th in the world rankings, just 2 places behind Moore.
So far this season, Sakura Johnson has finished in the top-10 in every one. His best performance was a third place finish during the fourth event.
Early success for the surfers started in the offseason.
“This offseason, I honestly wanted to attack more to just relax my mind because I feel like when you’re traveling you’re in such a fight or flight mode because you’re constantly on the go,” said Sakura Johnson.
During the WSL season, there is a lot of travel as surfers will travel all over the world and a big part of success is the ability to find rest.

“It’s really hard. But, when you’re going from Hawaii to somewhere in Europe and there’s about a 12-hour time difference, you try to sleep later. I wake up late like the first few days. So when you get there, it doesn’t affect you as much,” Sakura Johnson said.
She will look to maintain that mentality and ability to stay healthy with proper preparation throughout the season as Sakura Johnson looks for her first win of the season.
El Salvador Pro First Call is on Friday, June 5. After the completion of the first round, Sakura Johnson will find out her opponent.
