‘Barbarian’ Gets First Physical Media Release 4 Years After Its Premiere

Wild put Zach Krieger on the map as a horror filmmaker in 2022, but, despite being a cult hit, it never received a physical media release. That will change on August 11, when 20th Century Studios will release a 4K Ultra HD+ Blu-ray SteelBook edition of the film.

Just last year, Krieger lamented WildThe lack of physical media release in an interview with Ringer Movies. “I’ve banged the drum and made phone calls and tried my best to get some kind of physical media, but I’m not getting any headway and it’s frustrating me,” he said. Apparently, he’s finally made some progress, and we’re all better off for it.

Wild The Steelbook comes with some fun extra features, including a “behind-the-scenes” audio commentary with Krieger and creator Roy Lee Wild“featurette, and deleted scenes. They all seem like the same bonus features that come with a digital version of the film, but it would still be nice to have them on disc.

Wild Follows Tess (Georgina Campbell) as she discovers her Airbnb stay has been double-booked with Keith (Bill Skarsgård). For some unknown reason, she decides to move on from it and move into a house with a complete stranger. This, it turns out, is a very bad idea.

Krieger’s most recent film, WeaponEstablishing him as a modern horror master and even earning Amy Madigan a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her terrifying portrayal as Aunt Gladys. His next film is a foreboding-looking reboot resident EvilWill be released in theaters on September 18.
