ATP Queen’s Club Predictions Incl. Paul vs van de Zandschulp

The preliminary stages of the ATP Queens Club saw some very interesting results, with all matches being decided in straight sets. Day four promises to be a more competitive day with a lot of players who feel they have something to prove. As you’ve come to expect, we’ll be providing our predictions and insight into who we think will progress into what promises to be a fascinating day in LWOT. Let’s join in!

ATP Queens Club Day 4 Predictions

Hamad Medjedovic vs. Ugo Humbert

Head to head: Humbert 1-0

Humbert is probably the type of player you would expect the grass to be quite suitable for in Wednesday’s matches. In Medjedovic, he faces a player you’d expect to test him, using his heavy serve and forehand to good effect. The problem for Humbert is that he has been nowhere near his best in recent weeks. That said, I’m still going to back him to get the job done in three sets in what promises to be a good match-up.

Prediction: Humbert in 3

Corentin Moutet vs. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

Head to head: Davidovich Fokina 4-0

Their head-to-head certainly looks one-sided; Even more so when you realize that Moutet did not win a single set. However, three of those matches were played on clay, the surface on which Davidovich Fokina thrives. This is also his first match on grass, a surface that you would think will allow Moutet to be more competitive in the contest. Furthermore, the Spaniard has been a bit out of sorts recently, but it’s not like Moutet is flying; He too has struggled. History suggests that Davidovich Fokina will almost certainly win this ATP Queens Club match.

Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3

Rinki Hijikata vs. Jiri Lehka

face to face: first meeting

Hijikata has won three consecutive matches at the ATP Queens Club through qualifying. Therefore, you expect him to acclimatise well to the surface. However, if Leheka plays anywhere near his best, he should overwhelm the Australian with his strength from the baseline. The Czech’s performances have declined slightly in recent weeks, but the difference in ranking and quality suggests he should beat Hijikata and advance to the next round.

Prediction: Laheka in 2nd

Tommy Paul vs Botik Van De Zandschulp

Head to head: Van de Zandschulp 2-0

Arguably, match of the day. The Dutchman won his first match at the ATP Queens Club, ending a streak of four consecutive losses. Tommy Paul is a player whose playing style suits all surfaces, and regardless of the head-to-head, he should come in as the favourite. Furthermore, Van de Zandschulp is certainly capable of producing spectacular performances at times. Yet, in Paul you have a player who generally maintains a steady level throughout long periods of the match. I hope American gets one back here.

Prediction: Paul in 3
