“Heated Rivalry” creator Jacob Tierney recently said during an interview with Extra that his stars’ real-life sexuality is irrelevant compared to the “excitement and desire” they bring to HBO’s new quirky, sports drama series.
When Tierney was asked if the sexuality of stars Hudson Williams and Connor Story was relevant to the show, he said, “I don’t think there’s any reason to get into that thing.” “Let me tell you something about casting for both of these roles. You can’t ask questions like that when you’re casting, okay? It’s actually against the law. So what you have to measure is someone’s enthusiasm and willingness to do the work.”
He added, “And what’s so impressive about both of these guys is that they came out like, ‘Yes, we’re here to do this, and we’re here to make this story authentic and as real as possible.’ And he hit it out of the park.”
“Heated Rivalry” stars Williams and Storry as rising hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, respectively. Despite playing for rival teams, the pair suddenly develop a romance.
Williams recently told Out Magazine that her chemistry with Story has an intense and unexpected authenticity compared to other potential co-stars.
