The best-selling game of all time is moving from virtual to physical. Minecraft World, a permanent Greater London theme park based on the game, is scheduled to open in 2027. The announcement came during Minecraft Live 2026.
This will be a new section at Chessington World of Adventures, a theme park with a built-in zoo. The resort is a 35-minute train ride from London’s Waterloo station.
Details about the park are still pretty light. But we do know it will include a roller coaster, “interactive adventures” and an “epic block-built playscape.” Torfi Frans Olafsson, creative director of the game franchise, said that his goal was to create “an experience that feels intense, authentic, and welcoming.” Naturally, this will include welcoming you to open your wallet in Minecraft-themed retail and dining venues.
The park is a collaboration between Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second largest theme park manufacturer. (A certain rodent-led empire is a first.)
If visiting a full theme park in England isn’t your thing, the latest location for the game’s (also real-world) pop-up event will open in May. Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail will let visitors go on a one-hour outdoor nighttime adventure in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As its name suggests, you’ll “walk the moonlit path” through iconic Minecraft biomes. Along the way, you’ll craft gear, mine diamonds, create battle hordes, and “help restore an ancient lighthouse.” This event will start in May.
