Sometimes all it takes is adding a few more words or an extra line of instructions and you can get ChatGPT responses that are a level above what everyone else is seeing – and we’ve included several examples below.

Get ChatGPT to critique your ideas the way your child wants
We know AI chatbots can sometimes be obedient and sycophantic, but a little quick engineering can prevent this: Ask ChatGPT to behave like a curious, inquisitive 10-year-old who wants to help and has a lot of questions, then ask the AI to respond to what you’re discussing.
Whether you’re trying to plan a vacation or work extra hard with AI, this child-like inquiry will quickly help you spot weak points and potential problems, not just saying that everything you suggest sounds great. This will often raise questions you might not have thought about otherwise.
Use your phone camera to signal for help
If you’re using the ChatGPT app on a phone, you can use the device camera and include photos taken as part of your prompt. ChatGPT can be a useful learning resource for almost any topic – as long as it has used enough training data on it – but it can return huge amounts of information on occasion. One way to make this more efficient is to use the “80-20 rule” in your prompt.
Known as the Pareto principle, the 80-20 rule holds that 20 percent of the work produces 80 percent of the results. In the ChatGPIT world, this means you can learn 80 percent of the important information about a topic from the 20 percent of it.
Next time you need to brush up on something via AI, try asking ChatGPT “At 80-20…” no matter what. This should give you fast access to historical periods, bands, scientific concepts, movies and much more.
