A woman with family ties to White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Revere, Massachusetts. A woman named Bruna Ferreira has an 11-year-old son with Caroline Levitt's brother Michael Levitt. Ferreira moved to the United States from Brazil with her family as a child and is currently detained in an ICE facility in southern Louisiana. Michael Levitt told WMUR that he always tried to maintain a relationship with Ferreira. She said her son has not spoken to Ferreira since he was detained by ICE several weeks ago. Todd Pomerleau, an attorney representing Ferreira, says she came to the U.S. under DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, an Obama-era program that protected immigrants brought to the country from deportation. Said. According to a statement provided to WCVB by a source familiar with the matter, Caroline Leavitt has not spoken to Ferreira in several years: "This individual is the mother of Caroline's nephew and they have not spoken in several years. The child has lived full-time in New Hampshire with his father since his birth. He has never lived with his mother." Ferreria is a criminal illegal alien from Brazil. He has been arrested before on battery charges. He entered the United States on a B2 tourist visa, which requires him to leave the United States by June 6, 1999.'' A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson also released the following statement on Ferreira’s arrest:
“ICE has arrested Bruna Caroline Ferreria, a criminal illegal alien from Brazil. She has been previously arrested for battery. She entered the United States on a B2 tourist visa, which required her to leave the United States by June 6, 1999,” the statement said. “He is currently in the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center and is in removal proceedings. However, Pomerleau says Ferreira has no criminal record.
