She will be supported by her boyfriend, football player Braxton Berrios, who will likely be watching from a distance. “He’s caught up in the football world right now, so unfortunately, he won’t be able to come,” Earl said of Berrios before the season opener. This argument will likely persist for the next few weeks; Berrios has not been seen in the ballroom yet.
Here, what to know about Alix Earl’s boyfriend.
He is from North Carolina.
His mother, Lee Smothers, worked for a pharmaceutical research company, and his father, Rico Berrios, worked for a Dallas-based furniture manufacturer. They divorced in 2002.
His father Rico recalls that his son wanted to practice football all the time, in every season. He said, “My neighbor would come out of his house and yell, ‘Rico, you’re crazy! You’re going to kill this kid’ – but his wife would say, ‘No, he’s not killing him. That guy is going to play in the NFL one day.'”
Braxton has an older brother, Austin.
He went to Miami University.
He was a finance and entrepreneurship major and played for the school’s football team. “Anything I try to do, anything I put my name on, I try to do it to the best of my ability. That’s really all I got,” Berrios said after the draft. “It wasn’t that I was smart enough or that I valued education as much as football or even football. I think it’s an important part of life. They can take away football and all those things, and they can’t take away your mind and brain and the knowledge that you have. But, it’s just a culmination of work and I’m trying to do everything to the best of my ability that was put in front of me.”
He was drafted by the Patriots.

He was part of the team’s 2018–2019 squad, and although he never played, he was awarded a Super Bowl ring after the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII.
Berrios has played for the Jets, Dolphins and now the Texans.

“My dad, stepmom and all my brothers live outside of Dallas,” Berrios said after his trade. “For the past 10 years, I’ve been going to Texas several times a year. It’s going to be so much fun to live in a state like them again, and it feels like home no matter where the family is.”
