Jarrod Bowen talks to Sky Sports On the death of Billy Bonds: “You can already see the reaction from all the people online, what he meant to this club, what he achieved at this club, obviously a stand is even named after him, so it’s a sad day for everyone.
“It’s never a good feeling when a club legend like him dies. Our thoughts are with his family. I know the supporters will be here today shouting for him, which will be good for him and his family too.”
“He’s probably going to go down as West Ham’s biggest legend, their best club captain. He’s achieved a lot here. I’ll never emulate that success, but to wear the captain’s armband, especially as he did, is a big, big thing for me, so to still have a game today is what I want to show and what the team want to show as well.
“It’s going to be a tough game. We know they’re Premier League champions, but we’re in a good position at home, so we’ve got to keep that going today, and especially with today’s conditions.”

Bowen is, to his club’s credit, an adult in the room.
Contact Andy Flintoff: “Looking at the Liverpool line-up, the two players with squad numbers > 11 could so easily be switched with Endo and Salah without requiring too much positional change, which would leave it with a very retro-looking 1-11.”
Arne Slott has been explaining his team selection to Sky Sports.
“We have more players on the bench than Mo, but I understand why you are asking this question. We are playing four games in 10 days. I have many good players, so today I chose this line-up. Sometimes Isak has been on the bench, sometimes Wirtz so I understand why it is about the players on the bench, but it is also about those who start.
“It’s not an easy decision because I have more than 11 good players – it’s not the first time I haven’t played with Mo, just like I’ve decided not to play with Isak, Wirtz and Atikaite.”

update from nottingham

It’s a gloriously sunny day at the City Ground, a venue that provides eerie memories for Brighton and Fabian Herzeler. The Seagulls were beaten 7-0 by Nottingham Forest here last season, with Brighton producing one of the worst team performances in Premier League history. That result came just 10 months ago, so it will be fresh in the minds of those traveling from the south coast.
Things are very different in Nottingham, the Sean Dyche revolution is gaining momentum. They are unbeaten in three Premier League games, having beaten champions Liverpool last time out and lifting themselves out of the relegation zone. The players love playing for the former Burnley and Everton manager and a sense of positivity has returned to the shores of Trent.
Brighton will be looking for revenge after February and with only one defeat in their last seven games they will have chances. However, their only win this season came at Chelsea, creating the odd problem on their trip, but Herzeler says his team are ready for a “big fight” today and Dyche will ensure that.
Preface
This is a huge deal for Liverpool and Arne Slott. How long can rot be allowed to develop? Is West Ham the ideal opponent for a team struggling so badly? Perhaps Nuno is no longer in charge, and the Hammers play a more direct style. There will also be updates on two other matches taking place in the Premier League.
