After a ton of preparation, we’ll finally properly meet Morticia Addams’ sister Ophelia in season three WednesdayNot only that, but we know who will play her: Eva Green, whose infamous past includes Tim Burton’s three previous projects (2012’s dark Shadowsof 2016 Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and 2019 dumbo), as well as the horror Victorian era Showtime series penny terrible,

As Deadline reports, Green is now adding Ophelia Frump to her resume. Sorry to fans who may have hoped that Lady Gaga’s Rosalyn Rotwood was hiding a deeply familiar relationship with Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega). As the trade reminds us, the back of Ophelia’s head – initially telegraphed by her long, blonde hair – was finally glimpsed Wednesday Season two, thanks to Wednesday’s viewing, also revealed that her aunt was being held captive by Grandmama Frump (Joanna Lumley).

Also, worryingly, Ophelia is seen writing “Wednesday must die” on the wall in blood. Green is the first big name to join in Wednesday Season Three – We had a feeling they wouldn’t just stick a yellow wig on Catherine Zeta-Jones for the role – and she’ll clearly be an important figure moving forward.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum blog, Wednesday Creators, writers and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar said, “Eva Green has always brought a warm, eccentric presence to the screen – beautiful, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. These qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We’re excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday’s world.”

Green said, “I am thrilled to be joining this tragically twisted world Wednesday As Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and funny world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams Family.
