Washington State’s Emmanuel Ugbo suspended for rest of season

Pullman, Washington – Washington State forward Emmanuel Ugbo, who is currently under a court order due to stalking and harassment allegations, has been suspended for the remainder of the season.

Coach David Riley told reporters this week that Ugbo, who has not played or practiced for the Cougars since being suspended on Jan. 28, will sit out the rest of the season.

“As an institution,” Riley told reporters, “we believe this is the best course of action.”

A female volleyball player from Washington state had accused Ugbo of stalking and harassing her after they ended their relationship. Last week, a Whitman County judge granted the woman a full protection order against Ugbo.

Ugbo’s suspension began with a Washington State home game on January 31, shortly after which the woman applied for a temporary protection order. Ugbo averaged 6.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18 minutes this season. He previously played for Boise State.
