All of Apple’s MacBooks are on sale for very cheap this Black Friday, and I’m inclined to recommend that most people buy the latest M4 model: it’s beautiful, very fast, and only $749 in the 13-inch size (normally $999). But if your budget can’t stretch that far, or you don’t need such a major upgrade, the M1 model is the cheapest option available in like-new condition. Its price has dropped to just $549 during Walmart’s Black Friday sale, which runs through November 30.
Walmart is Apple’s exclusive retail partner for the M1 MacBook Air, and while it’s technically listed with an MSRP of $649, I almost always see it on sale for $599. This special holiday deal of $100 off is its biggest discount ever SometimesAnd I wouldn’t be surprised if it sells out sometime this Cyber Week. (The gold version was already out of stock at the time of writing.)

30+ Best Black Friday Apple Deals: Record-Low Prices on MacBooks and $69 AirPods
The M1 MacBook Air, released in late 2020, marked Apple’s first foray into custom silicon instead of Intel chips, and it’s still relatively attractive for its price point. It’s 25% faster than the new Chromebooks we tried in the $599 to $699 price range, and its fanless design keeps it cool. It is equipped with 8 GB of memory, making it best for basic everyday tasks like web browsing, watching movies and sending emails.
Visually, the M1 MacBook Air has a classic MacBook aluminum unibody design, but has more of a wedge shape than its successors. It also lacks their annoying webcam notch. It comes with a 1600p display, a backlit Magic Keyboard, a 720p FaceTime camera, and two Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports. It weighs 2.8 pounds, making it just one-tenth of a pound heavier than the 13-inch M4 model.

If you want a little more power, a bigger, brighter display, and a good 1080p webcam, I also really like Best Buy’s Black Friday deals on two Geek Squad certified refurbished M2 MacBook Airs. They both come in under $600, making them competitive alternatives to Walmart’s $549 M1 model for budget buyers who don’t mind purchasing pre-owned.
