NASA is preparing for its first manned Moon mission in 50 years
The drone company is owned by Google parent Alphabet and first partnered with Walmart in 2023. Since then, The Wing has made aggressive efforts to serve additional retail locations and expand its operations across the country. With the new drone offering, the company will operate its autonomous delivery drones in 270 locations and serve about 10 percent of the US population, or about 40 million Americans, TechCrunch reports. The company calls it “the largest residential drone delivery service.”
With infrastructure built out in the Dallas-Forth Worth and Atlanta areas, customers will see drone delivery options gradually launching in 2026 and 2027 to major metropolitan cities like Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami.

In June, Walmart expanded its drone delivery service to five cities – Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando and Tampa – and more than 100 store locations, becoming the first major retailer to expand drone delivery to five states and hundreds of locations. According to the company, Walmart has completed more than 150,000 successful drone deliveries since its launch.
“Whether it’s a last-minute grab-and-go item for dinner, a needed charger for a phone, or a late-night essential for a busy family, the strong adoption we’ve seen confirms that this is the future of convenience,” Greg Cathy, senior vice president of digital fulfillment transformation at Walmart, said in a press release.
