The Hollywood Reporter broke news of the project, which has no writer attached yet. This means it’s still very early days, so it seems like this is something that won’t come out until closer to 2030. Sony Pictures Animation is currently recruiting writers and taking pitches, and, according to the trade, Tom Hardy is expected to return in some capacity. It is unclear whether he is on board as a producer or voice actor.
What is clear is that it is a brilliant idea. Apparently, having an animated movie didn’t hurt Spider-Man, with two and soon three incredible feature films starring the character. We wonder if Venom might be a part of that third film in some way, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Which establishes what the ending of this film will be.
And, despite mixed reviews, audiences still came in droves in 2024 Venom: The Last Dance. The big hit film was intended to kick off a live-action take on Tom Hardy’s character without officially being associated with Spider-Man. An animated movie feels like a way to do that. spider verse The movies gave us everything the audience wanted story-wise while also tying all the different versions together.
Of course, this is mere speculation. With no script and no real specifics, an animated Venom movie is still a long way off. That’s plenty of time for the highly sought-after duo of Stein and Lipowski to direct one, maybe two, of the films they have in store. Bloodiness. But, it looks like they’ll finally get their hands on Venom too.
How are we feeling about an animated Venom movie? Will this be teased in Beyond the Spider-Verse? Let us know below.
