Duke Miles scored a game-high 20 points, his fourth 20-point performance of the season, leading the Commodores (7-0) offensively. Tyler Tanner added 16 points, pairing with five assists and two steals. Tyler Nickell also poured in 16 points while adding three assists and a career-high three steals in the win.
Jalen Washington had his best game as a Commodore, sinking all five shots he took en route to an 11-point, 8-rebound performance. He also tied a career high with four assists.
Vanderbilt lit up Imperial Arena by shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 50.0 from three-point range. The Dores also hammered the boards, defeating VCU 43–29. Vandy continued his elite rookie season with 18 assists on 27 made buckets.
VCU (4-3) was paced by Nick Lewis’ 16 points and Jadrian Terry’s 15 points. The Dores held the Rams to a season-low 74 points. VCU shot just 35.7 percent from the field and 24.1 from beyond the arc.
The Dores jumped out to a 20–4 lead in the opening minutes, before 24 first half free throws helped VCU close to within a pair at the break. Leading 43–41, Vandy started the second half with a 14–6 run to take a 10-point lead. The Rams pulled the match to within six in 12 minutes of play, before a 7–0 Commodore run put the Dodgers in complete control. An 11–0 Vandy lead pushed the lead to 20 with 3:16 minutes left and the Dores went to 7–0 on the season.
