The 6-foot-3 1/2, 225-pound Curtis had been a verbal lure to Georgia since May, but now he has become the No. 21 commit for head coach Clark Lee and his staff.
Curtis became the biggest commit in program history and the most talented signal-caller to commit to the program out of high school since Jay Cutler.
Lee is winning big on the field and landing Curtis could keep the Commodores in the College Football Playoff race for years to come. He will have a chance to compete for the starting quarterback job next fall as Heisman candidate Diego Pavia’s college eligibility expires. Ultimately playing his first year was the most important factor in Curtis’ decision.
Beyond competing for snaps as a true freshman, the program trajectory and the opportunity to play for Lee with zero offers allowed Vandy to accomplish this.
“There’s a lot of hype around Vanderbilt right now,” Curtis’ agent Peter Webb of QB Reps said earlier this fall. “The city is hot right now. They beat LSU. They beat Bama last year. I think they’ve done a great job of getting them interested and letting them know about the program. There’s a lot of good things happening with Vanderbilt.”
This will continue with Curtis.
Scouting new Vanderbilt commit Jared Curtis
As a junior, Curtis completed over 70 percent of his passes for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns to three interceptions. He made his way to 18 and a quick score. Curtis has been fantastic as a senior. In five games he has rushed for 1,005 yards and 14 touchdowns and four rushing scores.
Rivals director of scouting Charles Power said, “Special hands-on talent with the ability to make creative plays.” “Looks like a top arm talent in the 2026 cycle. Explodes the ball out of his hands. Generates considerable velocity when throwing to all areas of the field. Has a loose, natural throwing motion. Capable of throwing impressive passes from multiple arm angles. A pure rotational athlete who doesn’t need to set his feet to throw an accurate pass. Plays with a gun-toting mentality and isn’t afraid to run the football into tight windows in the middle of the field. A Fluid athlete who is difficult to penetrate in the backfield. Dangerous playmaker and improviser made some incredible second-reaction plays as a junior, avoiding pass rushers and throwing for 50+ yards.
Curtis originally chose Georgia instead of Oregon. Other programs he strongly considered included Alabama, Ohio State and South Carolina.
