An active pattern begins in the month of December, with a few rounds of light snowfall possible, with temperatures remaining well below average.
Recap of November 29 snowfall incident
The dry air located around the Indy metro and south certainly provided sharp cutoff from the northwest to the southeast.

Keep in mind, we got to 38 degrees overnight (all of central Indiana got above the freezing mark), so there is much less snow melt/condensation this morning than last night. This nighttime temperature will go down in the record books as the “high” temperature of the day, with much cooler air.

Today
Temperatures today will remain steady around the 20s with wind chills in the teens, but wind gusts will subside by this evening. Use extra caution when traveling as black ice/icing is possible on roads and paved surfaces.
The sky will be generally cloudy and some scattered snowfall is possible in the far northern region of the state. Additional accumulation is not expected.

tonight
monday

The next round of snowfall will continue from Monday night to Tuesday morning.
Our next weather system will bring scattered snow showers around Monday evening rush hour (about 5 p.m.). There will be widespread snowfall with heavy bands from Monday night to Tuesday morning. Much of the event will be out around the Indianapolis metro by Tuesday morning rush hour, but be prepared for an easier commute. This won’t be a huge snow machine, but quick snowmaking in the 1″-2″ area is possible.

Another quick snowfall will be possible along the cold front late Wednesday night. Due to this, the temperature will drop on Thursday and the maximum temperature will reach around 20. The overall pattern is more typical of mid-winter than late autumn as temperatures remain well below average throughout the extended forecast.
